Lee W. is casting for a new independent short film “NO STRINGS ATTACHED”.
Roles Available (please indicate which role you are interested in):
KEN – 18-24 years old, Chinese male, local English and Mandarin-speaking. Comic-timing required. An ordinary young man trying to deal with his family. His father has a secret life while his mother thinks winning the lottery will make everything better.
KEN’s FATHER – 50-60 years old, Chinese Male, English-speaking. A generic middle-aged businessman. Generally has little to say and is used to KEN’s silent treatment at home. Treats married life as routine, fulfills basic domestic responsibilities by being the family sole breadwinner.
KEN’s MOTHER – 45-55 years old, Chinese Female, mostly Singlish-speaking. A simple woman who naturally devotes her life to being a full-time wife and mother. Dreams of winning the lottery because she thinks life will be better but is not really sure how to spend it anyway.
ROBERT – 50-60 years old, Chinese Male, fluent in English. A distinguished middle-aged doctor with a troubled past. Is in a committed relationship now, but has never stopped feeling guilty about running away and abandoning his family. Constantly seeks redemption and psychological catharsis. Has a chance-yet-deliberate meeting with KEN and generally comes across as a nice old man.
JACKSON – 20-25 years old, Chinese Male, mostly Singlish/Hokkien-speaking .comic-timing required. KEN’s convenience store colleague-turned-friend. A total ah beng with matching mannerisms and bravado, always up to some kind of sketchy business. Is ultimately a likeable and okay guy who looks out for KEN.
Shoot Duration and Timelines: 3-day shoot, likely around mid or late November 2009. Exact timing and schedule TBC. Payement: Token sum/modest pay. Meals provided on set.
